Across the upper front there is a panel of extensive bead work that is set on a backdrop of black lace

As was his trademark this caftan displays minimal seaming with one one central seam down the front and back and across the top of each shoulder

What makes it interesting is that a very near version of it walk the runway for the Fall 1988 show. You can see how he slightly changed the design to give it a bit of a younger feel and make it easier to wear.
